Gift Bows from Scout

Gift bows were part of Scout’s December 7th visit. This was a fairly easy, though appreciated Scout day. Our elf was up to some mischief, much to my oldest son’s delight. He was very much looking forward to some type of tricks. My kiddo was wondering if Scout was going to do anything to make a mess or to get into trouble. He was hoping Scout would do something out of the ordinary. My son told me about some mischief that friends’ elves got themselves into. He was really excited about his one friend’s elf. One morning his friend found his elf hanging from the ceiling fan. The elf had also taken his boy’s undies and put them all over the room. My son was hoping for something similar. Scout did not raid anyone’s underwear drawer. He did, however, stick many gift bows on everyone’s bedroom doors.

Gift Bows on Bedroom Doors

My boys woke up to bows on their doors, pleased that our elf was at least a little fun. They took more time to locate Scout on this day. He was in their playroom, tucked inside a gift bag filled with even more gift bows. Eventually they spied him, after much searching. My middle son liked that Scout was in a gift bag. He figured out that he could carry Scout around without actually touching him. He wanted to take our elf everywhere he went that day. However, Scout stayed safely in our home. This small mess of bows that Scout caused this day was easy to clean up. Therefore, he was permitted to return.  My oldest son kept looking at me for my reaction. He was concerned that I might not allow our elf to return. Thankful that it was not too big of a mess with the gift bows, my son was pleased with this small prank. Honestly, though, he hoped that Scout would be up to more mischief than that.

“And without question, the person who has the power to give a blessing is greater than the one who is blessed.” (Hebrews 7:7, NLT)
