Candy Canes from Scout

On December 5th Scout picked a very good hiding spot and brought candy canes for my kiddos. He was on an office chair. The chair was filled with stuffed animals. Scout was hidden between the faces of the stuffies. My kiddos walked past him several times, not even suspecting that he would be among the other toys.

A Special Treat from Scout

With him, Scout had a small note with a surprise for the boys. He hid some candy canes under their pillows while they were sleeping. That was very exciting for all three of my kiddos. They quickly ran to their bedrooms to check under their pillows. They were eagerly looking for their candy cane from Scout.

The Missing Candy Cane

My youngest and middle boys found their special treats. However, my oldest was almost in tears. There was no candy cane under his pillow. Therefore, he thought he was left out. What a poor kiddo! He thought his new friend brought his brothers a special treat, but left him out. However, I knew all three of my boys received a candy cane and wondered what happened to this missing candy. Being on the top bed of the bunk bed, my oldest son’s candy cane could have fallen anywhere. After a little searching, we found that his candy cane had fallen off his bed. It was stuck between the wall and his bed. That was a relief!

The candy canes were the small-sized ones. I allowed them to enjoy their treats after they ate breakfast. After they enjoyed their peppermint candy, my kids were excited to see if their elf friend also left some candy for Mommy and Daddy. They were a little disappointed that our pillows had no sugary treat underneath them. I had to assure them, especially my oldest son, that it was alright, and more for them to enjoy.

“For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago.” (Ephesians 2:10, NLT)
