Meal Ideas

Meal ideas can be tricky, and even a bit daunting, especially if any of the family has food restrictions or is picky.  There are five of us in my family; my husband, our three growing boys and myself.  My oldest can be a picky eater, my middle child will try almost anything and my youngest is somewhere in between. Currently there are no food restrictions as far as dinners go, but as we get older our bodies change and can develop intolerances or allergies.

For example, my husband can no longer eat bananas – a fruit he had enjoyed until a few years ago, as he started to feel ill after partaking one.  Recently, within the past fifteen years, I have developed intolerance to certain sugars which cause me much belly pain and headaches. Thankfully, for the most part I have learned what foods to steer clear of and what won’t give me ill effects.

We enjoy having dinner as a family, and even more so when everyone finishes the food on their plates without complaining about something they don’t like or clearing their plates with little to no ‘encouraging.’ While I am usually up for trying new recipes, I have a list of dinners that even get thumbs up from my picky eater.  Of course, your picky eater might not have a taste for some of the foods I have on our growing list, but it might give you more ideas and options to put on your meal calendar.
